Apal Sideri is an artisanal cider producer located in Ryfylke, Norway, on the family farm Sæbø in Hjelmeland.
Run by Dan Olav Sæbø, a 13th-generation farmer, the estate has been in the family for nearly 400 years. The farm has a long tradition of fruit growing, and today it represents a modern expression of Norwegian cider rooted in craftsmanship, heritage, and a strong sense of place.
What makes Apal unique is its approach to raw materials. Instead of traditional cider apples, the ciders are crafted from aromatic eating apples such as Aroma, Gravenstein and Summerred, grown in the fjord landscape. This results in a fresh, fruit-driven and vibrant style, defined by natural acidity and precision.
The production philosophy is simple: respect the fruit and let the raw material speak. Every cider is made with attention to detail, combining curiosity, craftsmanship and a strong belief in local ingredients.
Apal Sideri gained early international recognition when its first cider, Sølvsider, was awarded gold and named one of the best sparkling ciders in the world.
Today, the portfolio includes a range of ciders from clean and fruit-forward expressions to more complex styles, all reflecting the climate, landscape and identity of western Norway.
Apal Sideri represents a new generation of Norwegian cider, where tradition meets innovation and terroir is expressed through apples rather than grapes.
