The difference
Sølvsider, Apal Cider
Monasteries often appear in history when it comes to drink. We don’t know of any monasteries in the Sæbø area, but still, our story has a hint of monastic history in it. For in 1769, 160 years before the metal detector was invented, Mrs. Dahl went for a walk around Sæbø. With her eagle eye, she discovered no fewer than six silver neck rings from the Viking Age. The silver, we would guess, was likely plundered from a monastery in the Wales region. That sort of thing was quite typical of the Vikings.
Mrs. Dahl never received a finder’s reward for her discovery. But to honor her achievement for posterity, we have created Sølvsider. It is based on the apple varieties Aroma and Summerred, which were grown in the area where the rings were found.
